Tasmania’s premier summer event offers diverse activities and events based in and around the historic Sullivans Cove. The 2008/2009 Festival promises to bring many new concepts and ideas. The Hobart Summer Festival has merged with The Taste to become The Taste – Hobart’s Waterfront Festival.
The Taste Festival is currently looking for entertainment and cultural activities and there is an opportunity for everyone to get involved.

Council has recently advertised a new suite of by-laws. Public comments and submissions are invited to be made on the new by-laws.
The Draft Hobart Regional Arterial Bicycle Network is a document that crosses Municipal boundaries and identifies where arterial cycling routes are needed across the region to facilitate safe and efficient transport by bicycle. The launch of this draft plan for public consultation by the Mayors of the five participating Councils on Friday 9th of May is a major step towards implementing such a network. Applications are currently being sought from community, arts and cultural groups for financial assistance for projects and activities under the Council's Grants and Assistance Programs. Applications close Tuesday 13 May 2008.
