Draft Social Inclusion Strategy 2010 - 2013 Public Comment

Through the development of the Hobart 2025 Strategic Vision, the people of Hobart together with Hobart City Council, have identified a range of community objectives to be achieved.  Please take the time to look at the Guidelines For Comment and the Social Inclusion Strategy and provide comment to duffys@hobartcity.com.au

Draft Equal Access Strategy 2009 - 2013 Public Comment

This strategy was developed following a review of the Equal Access Strategy 2004, and extensive consultation undertaken with people with disabilities, disability support service providers and organisations, Government agencies and Council staff. The draft strategy strongly aligns with Council’s strategic framework and draft Social Inclusion Strategy and Policy, which seeks to ensure that Hobart is an inclusive community where every individual has the opportunity to participate equally in community life. Draft Positive Ageing Strategy 2009 - 2013 Public Comment

This strategy was developed following a review of the Positive Ageing Strategy 2002, and extensive consultation undertaken with older people service providers, community organisations and Government agencies. The draft strategy strongly aligns with Council’s strategic framework and the draft Social Inclusion Strategy and Policy, which seeks to ensure that Hobart is an inclusive community where every individual has the opportunity to participate equally in community life. Sustainable Transport Strategy 2009-2014

At its Monday 14 December 2009 Council meeting a Sustainable Transport Strategy which outlines a draft of new transport arrangements for the city and the region was adopted in principle.  The Council welcomes public comment on the document and will be running public displays at the Hobart Council Centre during January and February 2010 along with special attended displays in Waterside Pavillion, Mawson Place.  For more information visit the Community Consultation Page.

Business Excellence Global Conference

In recognition of Hobart City Council having received (in 2008) the Award "Gold Business Excellence" and the "Excellence Medal", the General Manager, Nick Heath, was invited to address the inaugural Business Excellence Global Conference in Singapore. Cultural and Linguistic Diversity Strategy

The Hobart City Council has been actively involved in the promotion and celebration of Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CALD) in the Hobart community for many years and is continually striving to improve the wider community's awareness and understanding of the economic, educational, social and cultural benefits of CALD and to mitigate the effects of racism and cultural isolation for CALD communities in Hobart.  To view a copy of the Council's draft CALD strategy click here.
