In the middle of the winter of 1908 in a remote farming district of North eastern Tasmania a women became lost in dense bush land. It was the ninth day of fruitless wandering before she managed to find her way out again. Many search parties throughout the period had failed to find the women so her reappearance, in an extremely weak and bedraggled state, amazed everyone. Through sculptural works Irene Briant investigates different aspects of this event, the experience of the lost women and those searching for her.
