The Hobart City Council's Council Centre is located at 16 Elizabeth Street Hobart (on the corner of Elizabeth and Davey Streets).

The Council's Customer Service Centre  on the ground floor of the Council Centre provides a single point of contact for customers and provides a comprehensive range of services including:

  • All enquiries
  • Planning and Building applications
  • Dog registrations
  • Licences
  • Rates enquiries
  • Water supply enquiries
  • Payment of accounts
  • Parking infringements

The Council provides a range of payment methods:

Eftpos- Credit Cards

The Customer Service Centre has Eftpos facilities.

Bankcard/Mastercard/Visa

The above credit cards are accepted for payments of accounts and the withdrawal of cash from savings accounts.
Maximum credit card payment $1300.00 per property.

BPAY

The Customer Service Centre now offers BPAY facilities for payment of rates accounts.  Please refer to your rates notice for your BPAY reference number.

Direct Debit

Direct debit facilities are available for payment of rates.

Internet payments

Internet payments are available for rates, parking fines and dog registration

Teletypwriter (TTY) phone communication

TTY facilities are available for people with disabilities through the Customer Service Centre.  Phone 62 382 124

Tender documents

Tender documents can be collected from cashiers at the Council Centre. Completed tenders are to be placed into the tender box at the front of the Customer Service Centre.

Public Notices and matters of public interest

These are displayed at the front of the centre on display boards.

Community Information Network

The Customer Service Centre offers free use of the internet.  No previous experience is necessary as staff will provide support when required.

The internet is operational from 8.30am to 5.15pm Monday Friday.  The maximum time allowed for this service per person is 30 minutes. The Centre Manager reserves the right to remove anyone abusing this system.
