Frequently Asked Questions

I haven't owned that vehicle for 2 years, why do I have a parking infringement reminder notice?

You have received a reminder notice because the vehicle is still currently registered in your name.  You must provide Council with the full name and address of the person who you sold the vehicle to and the date the vehicle was sold in the area on the bottom of the form and send this back to the Council.  Once all the above information is provided, Council will redirect the parking infringement onto the new owner/driver of the vehicle.

I have received a parking infringement reminder notice, but I was not the driver of the vehicle at the time the infringement was incurred.  What can I do?

Fill out the bottom section of the reminder with the full name and address of who was driving the vehicle and return this to Council and the fine will be redirected to the person who incurred the infringement.

I'm temporarily disabled, am I eligible for a disability permit?

Yes, only if your condition/injury is for a period no less than 6 months and not longer than 12 months. In the case where you are wheelchair bound the minimum period is 3 months.

I work in the CBD, what off street parking options do I have?

Council has a number of long term carparks available throughout the city.  All carparks currently have a waiting list however Council will be happy to add your name to the list.  Please call 62 382 781.

Why have I been issued with a Traffic Infringement when I am loading goods on a loading zone?

Loading zones can only be used by commercial vehicles or those with appropriate sign-writing.  If your vehicle did not comply with the regulations for loading zones you would have been issued with an infringement.
