The State Government approved the installation of gas reticulation throughout several Tasmanian cities including Hobart. Tas Gas (previously known as Powerco) is the company responsible for the installation of gas mains and connections throughout Tasmania.

The installation of gas mains and connections occurs by trenching or drilling in footpaths and roadways. Houses in these streets can then be supplied with gas upon request to Tas Gas.
