Parking fines are issued in accordance with the Local Government (Highways) Act 1982, the Traffic (Road Rules) Regulations 1999 and Council’s policies and procedures as outlined below.
Notices are issued to a person who is deemed to be the registered owner of the infringing vehicle. Vehicle owners are responsible for parking offences unless it can be proved that somebody else was using the car at the time of the offence or if the car has changed hands. (e.g. sold)
You must within 28 days of the date of service of this notice do one of the following:
Parking Meter and Voucher Infringements - Are payable within 14 days of the date of issue. After the expiration of 14 days the amount payable will increase by $10.00. After the expiration of a further 14 days and before referral to the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service recovery proceedings will commence and the amount payable will increase to $80.00.
Traffic Infringements – Are payable within 28 days of the date of issue. After the expiration of 28 days and before referral to the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service recovery proceedings will commence and the amount payable will increase by $35.00 in respect of all offences.
Note: After referral to the Director, Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service, Costs amounting to $96.00 will be added which will be in addition to the unpaid infringement amount.
Please note that telephone and internet payments cannot be made until the day following the date of issue of the infringement.
To request a withdrawal for a parking or traffic infringement, please visit or contact the Customer Service Centre to complete a parking/traffic infringement request. Please note investigations can not be undertaken unless all sections of the form are completed.
To request a part payment agreement for a traffic infringement (please note part-payment arrangements cannot be made for parking infringements), please visit or contact the Customer Service Centre to complete an application for payment arrangement. But the infringement must be paid in full within 63 days from the date of the infringement. Please note requests for part-payment will not be accepted unless all sections of the form are completed.
To request for a Court hearing for a parking or traffic infringement, please visit or contact the Customer Service Centre to complete a notice of election for a court hearing and await summons to be served including your court date. Please note a court hearing can not be elected unless all sections of the form are completed correctly.
If after 28 days you have not either paid the infringement notice or lodged a notice of election for a court hearing, and the infringement notice has not been withdrawn, you will be taken to be convicted of the offence set out in the infringement notice, and the monetary penalty may be enforced under the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Act 2005.
