Information for Program Partners

What is the Hobart Advantage Card?

The Hobart Advantage Card is a nationally-recognised, award-winning loyalty program * designed to increase customer patronage to Hobart businesses by providing a point of difference over other shopping destinations.

We encourage Hobart businesses to join up and use this FREE marketing tool to reward loyal customers and inspire potential new customers to discover just how vibrant and exciting our city is.

This program is an initiative of the Hobart City Council and is FREE to join. There are no hidden charges or fees.

*Winner of the 2007 Australian Marketing Institute Loyalty Program Award

 How the program works

Any registered business in the Hobart municipality can become a partner of the program. To join, your business must provide an exclusive offer to Hobart Advantage Card members that is not available to the general public. Your business offer or incentive must be perceived by customers to be of enough value to motivate them to make the choice to spend with your business rather than a competitor's. The offer must be immediately redeemable or provide an instant benefit to the Hobart Advantage Card member on presentation of their card.

How your business will benefit

As a program partner, your business will benefit from the following free promotional activities:

  • Promotion of the program via radio, television and newspaper advertising
  • Listing of your business on the Hobart Advantage Card website, including your logo, businesses contact details and special offer to members
  • Listing of your business in the bi-monthly full-colour newsletter distributed to all Hobart Advantage Card members
  • Promotion of the program through various Council public events
  • Promotion of the program through rates notices and other Council publications

The program provides FREE advertising of your business details to a direct mail database of nearly 10,000 members (and growing daily) through a strategic mix of media. Program partners also receive a bi-monthly newsletter which provides updates on feedback received from members, analysis of research and surveys conducted. The Hobart City Council Marketing Unit also and regularly coordinates other promotional activities in which Hobart Advantage Card partners may participate.

By becoming a program partner, your business will benefit not only through direct promotional opportunities associated with marketing of the card, but also from increased customer loyalty. The Hobart City Council is responsible for the administration and marketing of the program on behalf of program partners.
