A draft of Hobart’s new planning scheme was released by the Council for community consultation on 29 June 2009 with the closing date for comments and submissions being 22 September 2009.
The scheme will replace the current City of Hobart Planning Scheme 1982 and the Battery Point Planning Scheme 1979. The Sullivans Cove Planning Scheme 1997 remains the responsibility of the Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority.
Now that the consultation period has ended, over the next few months Council will review the draft and make revisions it considers desirable.
It will then submit the revised draft to the Tasmanian Planning Commission for certification for formal exhibition under Section 24 of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
