From 1 July 2009, water and sewerage services in Tasmania were combined into three service-based organisations charged with delivering water and sewerage services throughout the three regions of Tasmania. For Hobart, the new organisation Southern Water is responsible for water and sewerage services.
Water and sewerage charges no longer appear on your rates notice. Instead, you have received or will receive shortly, a separate bill from Southern Water.
The Hobart City Council is committed to informing and updating its ratepayers on the State Government initiated changes to water and sewerage. The Council has run a public information campaign since the decision by the State Government to transfer water and sewerage assets from Councils to the new corporation.
The communications from the Council’s information campaign are detailed below and are able to be downloaded by clicking on each of the links.

Water and Sewerage Accounts
Hobart ratepayers will soon be receiving their water and sewerage accounts from Onstream, the water and sewerage common services corporation.
Ratepayers are reminded that these accounts are as a result of the state government initiated water and sewerage reforms. The Hobart City Council opposed these reforms and warned the government that the cost of these reforms would be met by the ratepayers.
If you have any concerns about the accounts, please make sure you contact Southern Water on 13MYWATER (13 6992) or visit their website at www.southernwatertas.com.au.
